چکیده
Since the development of gastric bypass 50 years ago by Mason and Ito, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) gradually become the most durable and commonly performed bariatric surgery. RYGB has been shown to be effective in achieving significant and durable long-term weight loss as well as improving medical co-morbidities in morbidly obese patients, and currently regarded as a gold standard bariatric/ metabolic procedure. Recently, RYGB became the most commonly performed metabolic surgery for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Many reports about metabolic surgery are coming from this region because of the characters of Asian T2DM patients. In this review, the current literature evidence about the long-term result of RYGB on weight control and diabetic remission in Asian T2DM patients will

Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGBP) is the most commonly performed type of bariatric surgery, which is used in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Recent case reports and case series have described a rare complication of RYGBP, status post-gastric-bypass hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia, which was mainly managed successfully with pancreatectomy. In this letter, we describe the first success...
متن کاملControl of hypertension after roux-en-y gastric bypass among obese diabetic patients.
CONTEXT Hypertension is a common disorder in general practice and has a widely known association with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Low adhesion to clinical treatment may lead to poor results. Obesity surgery can bring early and relevant resolution rates of both morbidities. OBJECTIVE To describe hypertension evolution after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. ME...
متن کاملEffect of Modified Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery on GLP-1, GIP in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
The type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is one of the most serious diseases that threaten public health. Modified gastric bypass surgery has been applied to the treatment of T2DM patients in the 1990s, but the therapeutic mechanism to this function is still unclear. The aim of this study was to further clarify the effect and the mechanism of modified gastric bypass surgery on glucose metabolism in ...

OBJECTIVES To evaluate the relations between liver markers (GGT, ALT and AST) and the metabolic syndrome (and its components) in morbidly obese subjects, and to determine the response of these metabolic factors and hepatic enzymes after weight loss induced by Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. METHODS This study was carried out at a university hospital, in Santo André (SP), Brazil. We evaluated 140 mo...
